Instrument loan scheme

Supporting Young Musicians – Instrument Loans at Congleton Youth Orchestra

At Congleton Youth Orchestra, we understand how important it is to give young people the chance to explore music in a supportive and affordable way. That’s why we offer a wide range of musical instruments for our members to borrow—completely free of charge (subject to availability).

This scheme is ideal for beginners who are still discovering which instrument suits them best, as well as for more experienced players keen to develop their skills further. By removing the cost barrier of buying or renting, we make it easier for every child to engage with music—regardless of background.

The Orchestra’s instrument library was first established in 1998 with the help of a Lottery Grant from the Arts Council of England. Since then, we've continued to expand our collection thanks to generous support from the HBOS Foundation (in 2003 and 2005), and the kindness of individuals who’ve donated instruments over the years.

Our aim is simple: to nurture talent, inspire confidence, and ensure that every young person has the tools they need to grow musically.
